Hotel Villafranca is strategically located in
the centre of Rome in Via Villafranca 9 close to Stazione
Termini and many of the wonders of Rome. Guests have the opportunity
of visiting all the main sights and attractions on foot or hopping
on one of the many efficient transport services.
Being within the historical centre has many benefits. Rome’s
most famous visual gems are best viewed on foot. No-one ever forgets
their first stroll from Piazza Venezia and the
dominating Vittoriano along the Via dei Fori
Imperiali towards the Colosseum, passing the
Imperial Forums, where so many historically important
and impressive monuments and buildings concentrated on one road.
Via dei Fori Imperiali is within walking distance of the
Hotel Villafranca – just a few minutes down Via Cavour
from Termini, where it joins Largo Romolo e Remo. A major
sight in this area is the Basilicata di Santa Maria Maggiore,
one of Rome’s four patriarchal basilicas. Santa Maria Maggiore
is half way between Termini and the Imperial forums.
So much architecture can be appreciated ambling around Rome’s
lanes, piazzas and streets. Piazza della Repubblica
is located a few steps away from Termini. At the centre of the piazza
is a stunning fountain called the Fontana delle Naiadi.
The surrounding buildings are admirable with their protecting atriums
and marble exterior. Adjacent to the imposing palazzi is
the Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri,
which Michelangelo helped create. One of Rome’s
most important streets starts here, Via Nazionale. Via
Nazionale is a principal shopping street which joins onto the
aforementioned Piazza Venezia.
Almost all trains arrive and depart from Termini. Regular connections
also link Rome to the other major Italian and European cities. The
metro stop Castro Pretorio is very close to the
hotel (50m). The metro is extremely efficient and can instantly
transport you to Piazza di Spagna, Villa Borghese, Via Veneto,
Piazza del Popolo, San Giovanni and Circo Massimo.
